Laguna Pueblo Indian Facts:
  • The name Laguna means "Lagoon" refurring to a lake located on their reservation.
  • Lagunas speak a Keresan language.
  • There are around 7,000 in their tribe.
  • Their economy exits of trade and agriculture.
Leslie Marmon Silko:
  • Born 1948 in New Mexico
  • Grew up on Laguna Pueblo Reservation
  • She has defined herself as a Native American writer concentration on the Laguna ethnic themes.
  • Her first book told all about the Laugna people's traditions & legends.
